These pictures were all taken from the same spot, standing on a loose stump northwest of the house site.
This shot was taken in late March, when the lake was still iced over, but most of the snow was (temporarily) absent from the ground.
By early May the excavator had done some exploratory digging and had determined that the granite ledge protruded in the middle of the planned site. We were hoping to be able to use dynamite to remove it.
When I arived at the end of May the foundation had been poured. The protruding ledge is visible.
By mid June the foundation had been backfilled and the basement has a cement floor. The finsihed basement will be less than six feet in its tallest corner.
